Apple Servers Hacked by Australian Teen & Stolen 90GB of Files

Yes, a 16-year-old Australian teen hacked the Apple Servers and shocked all the Apple users.

At the age of Script Kiddies, this 16-year-old high school student did something like a pro-hacker. Although we know that Apple servers are widely unhackable it seems that this teen has crossed the lines of impossibilities.

Apple Servers Hacked & 90Gb of Files had been Stolen

The teen from Melbourne, Australia, has managed to breach into Apple servers and downloaded 90GB of files. The little pro-hacker has also downloaded extremely secure private keys which used to grant login access to users. The teen confessed to the authorities that he hacked Apple because he was a huge fan of the company.

What embarrasses more to the authority is that the teen hacked the company servers more than once over a year. Thereby, making the administrators of Apple found no footprints of the hacker and stolen files under their radar.

Finally, noticing his presence in their servers Apple contacted FBI when they noticed the intrusion. FBI then took the help of the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and blocked him from their servers.

The “Hacky Hack Hack” Folder

He was caught for the first time last year when police put a raid at the teen’s residence. In that raid, the AFP seized two Apple laptops, one mobile phone, and a hard drive.

“Two Apple laptops were seized, and the serial numbers matched the serial numbers of the devices which accessed the internal systems,” a prosecutor was quoted as saying by Australian media, The Age. “A mobile phone and a hard drive were also seized, and the IP address matched the intrusions into the organization.”

Fortunately, authorities attention drew to that point when they found a folder named, “Hacky Hack Hack” while examining the seized equipment.

Not only did the authorities discovered the suspicious folder but they also found some series of hacking tools and files through which the teen break into Apple’s mainframe frequently. According to the authorities, the teenager also used Whatsapp to share his offending with others.

Apple’s Insecurity Regarding the Teen’s Method

Apple company requested the authorities not to disclose the method by which the teen hacked into its secure servers. Although, the investigating team said that his ways of hacking into Apple’s servers “worked flawlessly” until the company noticed.

As usual, since the case is in its initial level, the FBI and the AFP has kept everything secret. Also, according to the teen’s defense lawyer who says that mentioning the case in detail could put the teen at risk as he had become so well known in the international hacking community.

“No such personal data was compromised in the hack,” the company assured its customer. Although it is still unclear about what type of data the teen stole.

The 16-year-old teen has pleaded his guilty in a Children’s Court, but the magistrate showed no mercy at his pleading and postponed his sentencing till next month (20th of September).
